Meet Dr. Porath

Dr. Nathan Porath is excited to be part of the team at Professional Dental Group and to serve the Northfield community. He is passionate about helping patients achieve healthy, confident smiles while building lasting relationships based on trust, compassion, and personalized care.

Dr. Porath grew up in Shoreview, MN. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Minnesota after completing his undergraduate studies at Gustavus Adolphus College. Throughout his education and clinical training, he developed a strong commitment to providing high-quality dental care in a comfortable and welcoming environment. He enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, including 10+ years of experience providing clear aligner orthodontic treatment, and is dedicated to helping patients understand their oral health and treatment options so they can make informed decisions about their care.

After dental school he started working as a dentist in Faribault, MN, where he practiced for 16 years before coming to Professional Dental Group. He was named a Top Dentist by the Faribault Daily News in 2021, and was named the General Dentist of the Year in his organization (out of more than 300 dentists) in 2023. He has been recognized for outstanding volunteer service at the Union Gospel Mission Dental Clinic, and has also volunteered at the Healthfinders dental clinic, Mission of Mercy, and Give Kids a Smile.

Dr. Porath believes that excellent dentistry begins with listening. He strives to create a positive experience for every patient by providing individualized treatment, clear communication, and gentle, attentive care. Whether helping a patient maintain a healthy smile through preventive care or restoring function and confidence through more complex treatment, his goal is to make each visit as comfortable as possible.

Outside of the office, Dr. Porath is a runner, gravel biker, and competitive cross-country skier. He and his wife Nichole have lived in Northfield since 2011. Nichole has been the head Cross Country Running coach at Northfield High School since 2016. They have 4 kids: Greta (11), Anna (9), Jack (6), and Freya (4). An Eagle Scout himself, Dr. Porath is a den leader in Northfield's Cub Scout Pack 313 and an adult leader for Troop 313. He has also been a coach for the Minnesota Youth Ski League in Northfield since 2019.
